Overgrown paths - Most of our paths are farm tracks and don't need clearing but, in 2021, the wet weather has resulted in a lot of growth on field edge paths. To keep them open villagers have started clearing some of these paths - red lines in the file on the left shows which have been done.
Sutton sits in the Suffolk Sandlings AONB between the Broxtead Estate and the River Deben and is at the centre of an extensive network of footpaths but very few roads . This means you can walk for miles without crossing a road and, because of the free draining soil, it's accessible even after a lot of rain. So, if you're stuck in the mud to the west of the A12, try us!
The map gives an idea of where each walks goes and below that there's downloadable details All the walks except No 5 start and end at our Village Hall (free parking!) with a brief description and and the distance, no 5 goes from the South Car Park on the B1083, Sutton Common
If you click here you'll get an overview .pdf whch gives the map of all the walks plus information on local points of interest which you could take with you on your walk.
The .gpx file can be used with mapping/walking apps on smart phones - for the uninitiated it should show the route of the walk on the map on your phone and the devices GPS will show you where you are. Search the web for 'Walking Apps UK' - the 'Heart Matters' website form the British Heart Foundation has a useful list. The walks below were all created using the 'Myviewranger' app so, thank you to them for the use of their site.
For walks from other Suffolk villages you can try this website .
